PROTESTANT PASTOR CHARGED WITH MOLESTING
14-YEAR-OLD FEMALE PARISHIONER
NEWPORT BEACH– A Protestant pastor of the Apostolic Christian Church in San Clemente was charged today for molesting a 14-year-old female parishioner that he met through his job. Ricardo Avalos Maffey, 42, Santa Ana, was charged with three felony counts of lewd acts upon a child between the ages of 14 and 15, and one felony count of contacting a minor with the intent to engage in child molest. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years and six months in prison. He is out of custody on $100,000 bail. Maffey is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 5, 2008, at 8:30 a.m., Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach. The Department will be determined later.
Maffey met Jane Doe through his role as a pastor. Between May 2008 and August 2008, the defendant is accused of violating his position of trust by engaging in illegal sexual contact with Jane Doe. On multiple occasions, he is accused of passionately kissing Jane Doe on the mouth. He is also accused of contacting her several times to meet and engage in kissing.

They tell me he was an awesome preacher,singer and great piano player too! Unfortunately, the system of the AA taught by the GB is to NOT recognize those who have struggle in their spiritual life even if they have been restored unless you are a family member or good friend to any GB member then we're talking about a different story! Your uncle's memory will never die in my parents heart because it was through his ministry that my parents still continue serving the Lord and now see their 3rd generation doing the same.

Does anyone know if Prado's old church building sold. The one in Albuquerque. I wonder if Prado is going to receive any compensation from the sale?

Either Prado is really smart or Floyd Duron is dense for taking a church that Prado took into enormous debt.
If the General Board is truly honorable, they will allow the local church to keep all proceeds so they can find a new building.
Another suggestion if for Victor Prado to give up his National Salary and give it to his old church so they can continue to make the Mortgage Payment. After all Prado did make bad business decisions because of Pride.
I know this is wishful thinking, because we know that the General Board is full of pride and arrogance. Maybe the members of Global Evangelism can take the AA to court so the AA's reputation continues to decline. I hope the current GB understands that their legacy is how they destroyed the AA.

We have lost so manyy members from our church due to the practices of the Pastor, and when I asked for help form the Bishop, instead of helping he throw me an anchor.
The whole organization is all about the money. Bishop's Day, Pastor's Day, Elder's Day. You are made to to give a forced Love offering. They don't care of the current economy. People have lost their jobs, homes and life saving. Send them what they think they deserve, and believe me they think they deserve it all because of who they are.
They will bled you dry, and after they can't get anymore they will just toss you away.

First I want to state that i dont condone the recent actions of Bishop Lugo. I agree with alot of the comments about him. So this information is not at all meant to defend him. But i do want you all to know the truth about what happened in Las Vegas concerning Pastor Jose Zuniga.
I know the man. He baptized me. I was under his pastorship for over 6 years. I left his church no more than a year ago.
I received this word from a member of his church;
Pastor Jose Zuniga had not paid his monthly dues to the apostolic assembly in over 14 months. He received many warnings and ignored them all. Bishop Lugo called him and told him that he would be coming to announce to his church what was going to happen. So Pastor Zuniga announced to his church that he was going to leave the assembly. His members (maybe 40 of them) didn't want to leave. They urged Pastor Zuniga to re-consider, but to no avail. So the members decided not to follow Zuniga.
Now this family that told me this, is the same family who owned the church sound and most of the instruments. When they pleaded with Zuniga to re-consider his departure, and he ignored the pleas, they went and took their equipment. Zuniga was there when they were taking it out. He was mad!! He was yelling at them, calling them thevies, and making a comotion. So the family just got their stuff and left.
Bishop Lugo arrived a few days later, and he met with the church. Pastor Zuniga was no where to be found. Last i heard, he will be starting his own church, and he took only 2 families with him. And Bishop Lugo placed 2 ministers in charge of the 3rd church of Las Vegas. Minister Amos Damian, and Minister Gerardo something.. I don't recall his last name. But ironically, he's married to Jose Zuniga's neice. lol
Anyways, I know alot of people didn't deserve to get their church taken away. (ie Tafoya, Torres, Rodriguez). But i don't believe this is one of those cases.
See the bottom line it all comes to the money. Take him out because he is doing a lousy job or is a bad pastor.
The only reason they wanted him out was beacuse as you state he was not of sending his dues to Caesar.
I guess you can scam, cheat, lie and molest, and as long you send your dues in youe a "MAN OF GOD"

Concerning Prado's old church in Albuquerque, I hear the General Board or Victor Prado have not come to address the congregation about selling the church.
They tell Floyd Duron what they are doing and expect Floyd Duron to address the church.
What a bunch of cowards. It is Victor Prado that ran the church to the ground and he does not have the courage to come and talk to the church. He forgets that a good number of church members made pledges over and beyond their tithing so that the church could be built. Victor Prado forgets about the men of God that labored so that the church could be purchased long before he ever arrived.
What I find funny is that everything is handed to Victor Prado and he still manages to destroy the church. Remember Victor Prado, you had faithful people that supported your vision and now you have left them out to dry.
Victor Prado you are a carnal minded leader without a spine. I find you to be despicable and a shame to the office you hold. The same way you addressed the congregation when you wanted to raise money is the same way you should be addressing them now. Not Floyd Duron nor the Bishop of New Mexico, but the General Board especially you Victor.
As far as the General Board, are they not aware of what Victor Prado did in Albuquerque. Why would they give him another church here in California? He has proven himself incompetent.
Here is my challenge to Daniel Sanchez, Sam Valverde and Victor Prado. Go talk to the members in Albuquerque and ask for forgiveness. Any money left over after Prado receives his slice of the pie needs to stay with the local church. The General office should not receive anything. If you all are men led by the holy spirit, you should take the loss since your General Board Member is at fault for this mess.
This is the same thing that Abel villanueva has done to the church that Daniel Sanchez and Ed Lopez used to pastor...he has basically driven it into the ground and shamefully takes his "check" every week..i hear he's stealing at least 10k a month over there...the members AND ministers are all sheep and never speak up...wow...shameful...just shameful....but wait, it gets better...our national board keeps rewarding him with other positions that pay...i guess he's giving his tithe of the tithes....if you learn one thing in AA politics its this: keep giving your money and your OK...I guess that covers Victor Prado too...

We only have Sunday worship service,and the Pastor wonders why nothing is happening.

I was in Jose Zuniga's church for a total alloted time of over 7 years, in 2 stints that i was there. In that time, I honestly, before God, never saw an ounce of spirituality in the man. So i guess i did see something like this coming.
I also want to clarify that Las Vegas in is the Interior District, which is under Bishop Lugo.
Look people, i don't like Lugo. I disagree with alot of his judgements and decisions. But I know Jose Zuniga. He was not one to be faithful. We're not talking about a few tithes here and there. this is 14 months. And i recently heard that is was way more than that.
You may call Lugo whatever you want. And i'll agree on most of it. But i can promise you this:

One thing is for sure, the best way to get your pastor removed is by him skipping on his offerings to the aa.
Also, spoke with some members of Valverde’s church and their comments are not positive, they told me a lot of people are leaving and the atmosphere is not healthy, publicly they show support but privately they’re planning their escape…is there any truth to this??

about powerful. I had never seen it the way he presented it in one of the pastoral and minister's meeting at the last convention in Long Beach. Too bad we lost someone from the AA who could have made a difference now it's on to the same Old regime with the same OLD traditions!
BREAKING NEWS!!! I heard from some of the members of FTC Church that Bishop Valverde is leaving the Assembly? Sources say that its because he wants to be independent.
can any one confirm this?

Or cause he reached his goal of building his mega church monument to his ego and helped his primo Eddie build his church as well ?
Cause I doubt that all of a sudden he is a Man of principle and integrity who feels he has realized the Assembly is corrupt.
He is a big part of the corruption, if not directly then indirectly by looking the other way.
And there is no way an arrogant jerk like Pacheco would ever get on The General Board with two votes if he wasn't Valverde's primito.
So this will be interesting to see the reason he gives for his departure. That is if it is even true.

Valverde is not going anywhere. He says that to appease his people.
He tells the hermanas & hermanos it is ok to wear pants, no velo, wedding bands & rings, go to the show, drink a little wine, have a little beard. But don't do in public. When you come to church try not to flaunt it especially around outside ministers.
Once a year around election time he preaches the Apostolic Assembly rules and no make up, no pants,etc...Most of the people who hear him are usually upset but keep it to themselves. That is just a small example of what Valverde is capable of being...He is a two face.
He goes on to say we are part of an organization that believes in this stuff so let's be obedient. He uses the "Obedience is better than sacrifice" scripture and on he goes.
His cash flow is awesome as long as he remains on the board and up next is the presidency. 2010 is his year, he covets this more than anything except his church. There is more potential money as a pastor than as the president, go figure.

I'm in Lugo's District (IDCN) and I've been hearing all over the place that Freddy Canizalez left the Apostolic Assembly.....can anyone confirm this. He was/is the pastor of the San Jacinto Apostolic Church.
Is Jacob and Diane Rodriguez back with the assembly as Interior District varones and dorcas president's. Also, the daughter, Jacqueline was given a position as the youth district board secretary?
Is this a sell out and how is it just a coincidence they get a position with the district in exchange for leaving Baldemar's church?
The Skotty video shows them leaving with Baldemar and now they are showing up on the Interior District website as District officials?
Please tell me this is not true!

I don't know about the others but Abel Torres, Baldemar Rodriguez were literally thrown out into the street they didn't leave. It was done because these two men were a THREAT to the so called GB of them being impeached if people begin to listen to them. So the GB got SLY by playing dirty politics to make these two men seem like rebels so the rest wouldn't follow. The easy road for the GB was to throw them out of the AA with lies! Your suggestion for people to protest in activities is a great idea but people have been programed if they go against authority something really bad will come over them or their family if they speak up when injustices are done in the church.
On a different note we the church members where Bro. Abel Torres now pastors are celebrating! We will be having the glorious Inauguration Ceremony of our "God Given Church" this Saturday, June 27th. It is beautiful and heartwarming to see so many, many hermanos at the church day and night happily working to further beautify and prepare for the big day! Calls are coming in from everywhere of hermanos who are going to attend in the festivities. We have had so much support it is incredible.
Again a big THANK YOU to all the beautiful loyal hermanos from so many other churches for their continued prayers, love and support. Thank you for not abandoning us eventhough there were strict(unGodly)orders from the general board for everyone to not have anything to do with us. The Lord has been steadfastly with us and our new church building can attest to that. Everyone is welcome at our church anytime!

I figured it was just a matter of time. I wonder what is going to happen with the local congregation. Did he leave them hanging like Prado did?
Or maybe, the financial mess that Prado and Duron caused is just too overwhelming for him.
Floyd is better off sticking to convention coordinator so he can receive all his perks that enable him to take his family on nice vacations, receive awesome offerings and milk the AA membership.
Truth be told, Floyd is not a hard worker. As convention coordinator, he earned money from the labor of pastors and the convention attendance of their members.
For him to pastor church, he would have give up many things but the AA spoiled Floyd. Anyway, he is still taken care of.
How do you get rid of a bad Pastor?
Not bad as a person just not Pastor material. Lazy and procrastinate. He don't do anything, not even visit the sick or the ones in need. Sends the deacon or other people to do his job and report back to him. I understand if we had a big congresgation but we have gone down to only like 20 members because of people leaving here because there is nothing here. I already went to the Bishop but he didn't do anything.

He doesn't know how to evangelize so he goes to Odessa and takes a few families, then he takes his crap to Andrews and does the same thing. The reason why the Apostolic Assembly is good at "recruiting" is because they don't know how to evangelize. There are alot of turnovers in Assembly because the doctrine is weak and defective. Yes, they steal members from another just so they can say they have a church.
The AA is really good at getting new members, but they're horrible at keeping them. The AA will cease to exist in the next 20-30 years.

Lazy ass Bracamontes sets up a tent in front of the church for a revival, then he invites all the people from other area churches. Your right they are pissed! To top it off Leonardo Garcia doesn't have to @#%$& to confront him! Why? Because guess who put him there? I am not trying to be critical of the AA. But we must try and understand that there are serious problems with our beliefs.
First, it is our view of Christianity in general. Many Apostolics are "culturally captive".
Many who got baptized did not "enter the body of Christ" they "joined the club".
Apostolic doctrine teaches that it is more important to become part of the Apostolic Culture than it is to become like Christ.
Next, most apostolic preachers only preach to your senses, they don't preach to your intellect, causing only a temporal Christian experience. (It no wonder we see so many backsliders).
Also, many Apostolics did not experience a genuine conversion, all they did was assimilate into the "culture of the church."
We need reform.
Looks like all the backsliders are back online.
Our church is sound and on a firm foundation.

Yes there was a law suit and according the court the AA won but what did a really gain other than division. You see even among the AA members that stayed their is no respect for Daniel Sanchez. AA members have only stay because the AA has brainwashed them since they were re-born that if they leave the organization they will be considered rebels and disobediant and wont enter the kingdom. My wife, daughter, and I have 'christian freedom', no longer bound by the opression of the machismo attitude of the aa. After they were advised not to do they went ahead and did plus the $7,000 they owed form the Van on top of that.

WE, on the other hand, bought our ready made church at a super prime location for $175,000 (it consists of the main church building which has a balcony and seats 600+, there is also a meeting room and sound room in the balcony area, the sound system was already in place, a remote controlled large screen, a smaller sanctuary which seats about 150, a pastor's office, a large dining hall, a full kitchen complete with appliances, a large multi-purpose room, various utility/storage rooms, 6 restrooms, 5 classrooms, plentiful built-in storage cabinets throughout, new carpet, AND a brand new roof. All we had to buy was chairs! Our payments are under $2,000. And our pastor is (drumroll...) Bro. Abel Torres of Midland, Texas! Thank you Lord. We are blessed.

......he had them see this one brother who done the loans. the brother put the hermanos in bad loans that they didnt qualify for.

The world is in economic turmoil with people losing jobs and homes being foreclosed on daily and then there's people like Valverde coercing people to refinance their homes. I hope the fountain doesn't run dry.

Last I heard - Pastor Sam was sending out Board Members to Prominent Locations, ie; Union City, Indio, Santa Ana.... and asking these Pastors and Churches to help pay the Mortgage of his Building, seeing that Head Quarters is to be relocated to FOT once he becomes the President of the AA.

Most of these MEN of GOD are so indifferent towards their congregations; they barely address the financial hardship from the pulpit unless it affects their standard of living,
I believe that this financial downturn that our congregations are going thru can actually do what the court system could not do, that is to remind our leaders that their lifestyles are only possible by our tithes and love offerings, it’s going to make many pastors realize that they need to take care of their congregations, look after the brothers, actually show some concern, visit somebody.. In other words get off your butt!! Cut back on the golf trips, vacations every six months, new car every two years, c’mon you all know this happens…
I’m not saying all pastors are not doing their jobs, but I just think that many pastors are doing everything BUT pasturing which is what many congregations pay them a salary for, not to be out preaching collecting more love offerings to supplement their income.

I heard that his eyes were set on a building that cost 1.5 million before buying the present one but took in cosideration the recession and began to look elsewhere and got a GREAT deal! Congratulations!! As a leader of a church it always pays to weigh things out first before making a move that could cost the congregation at the end. We all dream of having a MEGA CHURCH and there is nothing wrong with that but we have to be realistic if the members are losing their jobs, how can they give what they don't have? As far as I'm concern it was a BAD move that Samuel Valverde made. You would have to be blind not to see the financial meltdown that is going on all over the country especially California and other states before committing to a BIG mortgage such as 80,000 a month! All he had to do was read the newspaper or even watch the news. Someone on the blog made a comment how pride can often stand in the way. I believe that's exactly what Samuel Valverde is struggling with and that is keeping his status quo. Previously, I said "when you spit to high it will come back and splash on your face." My heart goes out to the faithful members who believed in him as a leader and administrator who now face the possiblity of losing their place of worship.
There's a simple cure for the brothers. You need to dig in and give more to the Lord.
The first fruits is a good way to end recession. Give your full 10%, before taxes and give special offerings but also your first fruit of your harvest.

The Division the Apostolic Assembly experienced was not created by God, it is the Lord that does the pruning of the Church, not man. This event was caused by men who call themselves of God and use the name of the Lord and position for their advantage. I will say this, what man intended for evil, God has turned into good - it rattled a complacent institution, one can even compare the shaking to the early Christian Church found in the Book Acts. They would settle and here came Persecution.

...that is how he has been moving up financially, and moving up to a better house
...I dont have anything against that he does work hard, but somehow

his members also earned as much money as he did and that is not
the case
...his income is safe, but most income of the members at FTC is not
safe, there been layoffs, hours slashed, and bills piling up and most of us cant make it with only one source of income while bro.sam enjoys 3 sources of income and I do
not believe that he is willing to let any of these dry up for him

As a person of position, we diffidently under appreciate the membership and ignore their needs, I sometimes find myself asking, where would i be without the membership? It is because we membership that i fulfill the calling that has been placed upon my life.
Sam finds himself at an interesting place, one he has placed himself in the middle of main stream message, Prosperity - and we Pastors find ourselves in the same boat. Relying on publications rather then to operate in the Super Natural under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
