PROTESTANT PASTOR CHARGED WITH MOLESTING
14-YEAR-OLD FEMALE PARISHIONER

NEWPORT BEACH– A Protestant pastor of the Apostolic Christian Church in San Clemente was charged today for molesting a 14-year-old female parishioner that he met through his job. Ricardo Avalos Maffey, 42, Santa Ana, was charged with three felony counts of lewd acts upon a child between the ages of 14 and 15, and one felony count of contacting a minor with the intent to engage in child molest. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years and six months in prison. He is out of custody on $100,000 bail. Maffey is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 5, 2008, at 8:30 a.m., Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach. The Department will be determined later.

Maffey met Jane Doe through his role as a pastor. Between May 2008 and August 2008, the defendant is accused of violating his position of trust by engaging in illegal sexual contact with Jane Doe. On multiple occasions, he is accused of passionately kissing Jane Doe on the mouth. He is also accused of contacting her several times to meet and engage in kissing.

Anyone with additional information or who believes they have been a victim is encouraged to contact District Attorney Supervising Investigator Randy Litwin at (714)347-8794 or the Orange County Sheriff’s Sex Crimes Investigation Unit at (714)647-7419.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigated this case. Deputy District Attorney Tony Ferrentino of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.

Wasn't Richard Maffey in line to serve on the Apostolic Assembly General Board? Has the organization made a public comment? How far in advance did they know Maffey was performing these lewd acts and did nothing?

Don't worry, the insurance companies will pay the attorney's fee's and penalties.

Revolutionaries for Justice

So the Revolutionaries for Justice want to come with video camera's in hand and try to affect change?

Have you not seen the Rodney King Video? It doesn't matter what the video shows, they were found not guilty.

Do you realize that a very well respected group of pastors just tried to sue our Beloved Assembly and ended up losing their churches. You think our leaders are going to listen to a few foul mouthed, name calling, disrespectful noobs? I think not! You must realize one thing; the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Christ Jesus, Inc.(Texas and California) has the legal system behind them.

You can't fight City Hall. I am surprised they sued. I am surprised that some of these pastors are apologizing. "I'm sorry for pointing out how the AA and its constituents were defrauded from a fair election, can I have my church back"? But I do understand why they are apologizing: It is their livelihood at stake. That is very unfortunate because most of these pastors have nothing else to fall back on.

I did read Sister Rita Solomon's letter over on AA.info. She is very well respected, intelligent and well spoken. She articulated very well her feelings and emotions through her ordeal. The anxiety, the unknowing, the embarrassment, the humiliation, the frustration of trying to do what was right and being told you where wrong, the lack of clarity as to what the future holds, being called rebellious. As Bill Clinton said, "I feel your pain".

Now you know what countless other pastors wives, who where excommunicated and removed while your husband was on the General Board and stood their and said nothing, feels like. Welcome to the real world. And I do say that with the utmost respect and admiration for you and your husband's ministry...but it had to be said. This type of politics has been bred in our Assembly, many generations have been through this. You held the reigns and did nothing to change this, not only did you do nothing to change this, you fostered this corruption. You lived high of the hog and now the hog has turned and kicked you out of the pen.

You are free now, there is no need to come back. What are you going to come back to? Its easier to see how dirty things are when your not rolling around in it. Run free and be clean no one can hold property over your head anymore. All the other pastors are held hostage by their properties. John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. The truth is that Jesus did not intend for pastors to be slaves to an organization. An organization that can do what it wants, when it wants to whom in wants in the name of Jesus. Pastor's do not realize that they are held captive because of the structure of the AA. It controls the property therefore holds captive its pastors. I may not be Bible scholar but I don't think this is what God intended. It breeds corruption, pride of the flesh.

Back to the Revolutionaries...

If you want to really affect change, you must change from within. Lose the slang, lose the hostility, put on a tie and a suit and STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED. Speak clearly, assertively and with the peace and kindness of Christ. You must grow into a position of respect and admiration, then...when you hold the reigns, you must not let the power go to your head. You must be a giver, not selfish and look out for future generations of Latino's across this country. Not you and your children's fancy houses and cars. This is how we must build wealth, by effecting the lives of others beyond your site and reach. YOU MUST AFFECT THE EFFECT!(That is for Freddie Jose, some of the old timers will understand the FJ reference). It will take time, be steadfast.

I am afraid if you don't, this may be the beginning of the end of our beloved social.

ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL!

I think I figured it out.

I was looking at the pictures from the 2006 Elections (thank for the link to AA.info) and I came across this picture of this guy nodding off.

IT'S HIS FAULT!! He should have been diligently seeking direction through prayer. Even the waiter in the white suit was praying.

Who is this guy? He should be stripped of his license, disbarred, censored, flogged, and publicly humiliated. Had he been praying steadfast as the bible dictates, perhaps we all would have been relieved the current situation. Talk about a butterfly effect!

I was impressed with the whole election production. It seemed well organized. For some reason in my mind I had the impression that there was a bunch of men in white socks and black shoes using yellow stickies to write in an illegible script the name of who's back they wanted to scratch. It was actually, at least it looked like a very well thought out, organized event. The video monitors, the voting keypads, the district signage...even the waiter in the white suit stopped serving coffee and water and joined the Apostolico's in attendance in prayer.

While I was rifling through the pictures, these following thoughts came to my mind:

(1)The men in this picture are the very men who voted in the CID in the previous year. Not one objected. Not one questioned the document. Not one questioned the intent behind the document. NOT ONE! Even those that are on the plaintiff side did not object!

So that begs the question, Do we have the blind leading the blind? Well it appears to me that this is obviously so, for not one clergy member objected either did one person outside of the clergy. Including yours truly (for the record, I wasn't even aware there was a CID prior to this lawsuit).
Does this mean that it was not even discussed among the clergy? You would think that a couple of hermano's would sit and discuss the political topics in the Assembly after church one night over coffee and pandulce. It's looks like they're discussing it now and much more. (From my interaction with several brethren, the clergy can't even figure out who they can trust. Again this due to political posturing...haven't we had enough of that? But that is another topic).

(2)Did these clergy member's know that their individual vote counted only as 1/4 of the of the electoral process. Let's see, that means with respect our beloved organization each minister(person) is considered a fraction of a vote. It would take four ministers (persons) to make one whole vote. I will have to go back to my American history class but if I remember correctly even the slave's had more voting rights per person, 3/5 of a vote. And that 3/5 was weighed against a white mans 1/1 vote. That means it would take two black votes to neutralize one white man's vote. The Apostolic clergies individual vote is weighed against several committees that held the 3/4 of the vote. I'm not a statistician but it seems to me that the clergies vote doesn't even matter. AND THE WOMEN HAVE ZERO!!

OUR ORGANIZATION IS GOING BACKWARDS!!

And sisters don't sit there with smug look on your face, everyone of you have accepted the fact that you don't count save making a few tamales for the building fund. Why do the women have to be in an auxillary role (functioning in a subsidiary (secondary importance) capacity)?

Maybe that hermano caught nodding off, was indeed a mathmatician in disguise, knew of this and realized he was wasting his time sitting there while he could have been at Disneyland.

Pillars Gone - David F. Hernandez, Cesaria (Lita) Alvarez (Video Link added 3/5/08)

We've lost two great pillars: Brother David F. Hernandez(70) and Sister Cesaria Lita Alvarez(93).

Brother Hernandez embodied the work of the Apostolic Assembly.

David Hernandez...founded Family Life Center Apostolic Church in 1972... focused his ministry on reaching men who struggled with substance abuse and problems with crime and violence. He established the church in 1972 hoping to create a safe, community environment and to win people to God...

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at Quiet Cannon banquet hall in Montebello and at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Family Life Center Apostolic Church in Whittier.

Sister Alvarez' has given 73 years of service and ministry to our Lord and Savior under the Apostolic Assembly. Born in 1915, the Lord called her home early this morning at 2:45am (2/25/2008). According to those close to the family, she passed near the time of her daily prayer: 3am.

Sister Alvarez was instrumental to the Apostolic Assembly in founding both the Dorcas (Women's Auxillary) and Flor Azul (Foreign Missionary Fund). Millions of dollars have been raised by both of these groups for the purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally and internationally. Sister Alvarez was also a song writer, poet and author.

Our deepest condolences to the Hernandez and Alvarez families. Our prayers are with you!

An Open Letter to Bishop President Daniel Sanchez

1/9/2008

Honorable Bishop President Daniel Sanchez,

I greet you in the name of our loving Savior Jesus Christ. I pray God's blessing and wisdom upon you and your family.

The purpose of my letter is to address the matter of the removal of Former Bishop Abel Torres.
As you are aware the movements of the General Board are posted on this site daily. Prior to your visit to Texas, the agenda of your travels was published on this site. The outcome of your meeting with Brother Torres was immediately published on this site. The outcome of your visit with the Pastors of their respective district was again immediately published on this site.

Although many disagree with the purpose of this website, it has become a gathering place for those who LOVE this heritage of the Apostolic Assembly. The amount of visitors to this site is astonishing. Those who take time to post are passionate about their feelings. Some are well articulated and some are crass and rude. But nonetheless they are passionate! No one, not one, wants to leave this beloved organization. That, My Dear Bishop President, is LOVE.

Many view this lawsuit as addressing a plague affecting this organization. Many view this lawsuit as the affliction itself. Which ever side the constituents of this Assembly are on, we seem to agree on one thing: Brother Abel Torres was wrongfully removed.

Bishop President Sanchez, respectfully I submit to you a personal story.

I once held a secret clearance for a government agency for a line of work I was in. Prior to my employment with this agency I underwent a very stringent and lengthy background test which included psychological tests, physical test, criminal checks, 30 year background checks, social affiliations, credit checks, drug tests and mental aptitude tests. This process took several months. By the grace of God, and God fearing parents who instructed me on the value of my testimony, I gained clearance and proceeded to work diligently for a number of years in this environment.

Several opportunities arose which required a move to the private sector. Upon leaving the government agency, my superior officer told me, "We are losing a valuable asset, if you are not happy with your new duties do not hesitate to come back. We will only have to review from the time of this termination to the time of your reinstatement request. You are already cleared and on record from this date backward". This meant if I chose to return, I would not have to undergo all the previous test again. I would only be accountable for the time I left this agency and the time I requested to return. My clearance up unto that point was granted.

Respectfully I bring these items to you attention.
1. Brother Torres was voted in by an overwhelming margin as Bishop of his respective district. The local pastors were and are aware of his involvement this lawsuit but still held fast in their hearts and spirit they wanted him to lead their district. This was because of his integrity, character and record.

2. Brother Abel Torres, under the existing CID, was approved to charge the office of District Bishop. The opportunity arose to disqualify Brother Torres from the District election for reasons of insubordination or rebellion but the election committee felt he was qualified nonetheless. Brother Torres gracefully accepted this position and communicated his desire to continue God's work through the office of Bishop and bring resolve to the aforementioned matter.

3. During Brother Torres' short administration as Bishop, he worked with humility, integrity and the fear of God. He did not use his position to bring reproach to the General Board or the Apostolic Assembly. He did not use his position as leverage on behalf of the plaintiff's of the lawsuit. Rather he worked to bring the parties together as a peacemaker.

4. On December 28, Brother Torres was removed from the Office of Bishop. Brother Torres gracefully accepted the General Board's removal of his title. He did not use this action to bring reproach to the General Board or the Apostolic Assembly.

My beloved Bishop President, I submit to you 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.

4.Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5.It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7.It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Although comments on this website fall short of reflecting of this scripture, I would suggest that Brother Torres does not. His actions are that of love - (13. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love).

I addressed the disclosure or awareness of the movements of the General Board and actions during the dates leading and up to the removal of Brother Torres from Bishop to also bring to light that we are also aware that Brother Torres did no wrong doing whatsoever during his term as Bishop. I would suggest to you that had their been impropriety on Brother Torres' behalf, it would have been well documented on this website and should be held responsible for those
actions if true.

Since Brother Torres was accepted as Bishop during the district election, and there was no impropriety on his part during his administration and reason for removal, we are asking that Brother Torres be re-instated as Bishop of his respective district.

He was granted clearance by the local pastors of his district, he was granted clearance by the election committee and General Board. And he did nothing during his administration to remove said clearance up until the time he was stripped of his position and until present.

The local pastors and leaders again called upon his reinstatement the same day by their actions in re voting and calling upon him to be their Bishop. This should be taken as a vote of confidence on his behalf.

My beloved Bishop President. there are many matters in our Assembly that need to be addressed and corrected. We know that they cannot be changed over night. However, we do not need to keep adding to that list.

I know it is a great burden that is on the shoulders of you and your administration, I pray that God grants you the strength and wisdom to keep the flame burning.

I ask that you please reinstate Bishop Abel Torres as Bishop. It is the right thing to do.

With Respect and Love,
Apostolic Voice
