Things That Make You Go Hmmmm.....?

We at Apostolic News do not take sides in this present 2006 General Election Irregularities issue, however there are some tough questions that need to be asked. After all "We Report, You Decide".

Question #1:
What is going to happen "if" the pro-lawsuit group proceeds with their lawsuit and "if" it is thrown out, rejected or those involved found not guilty?

Question #2:
Are they going to publicly apologize for dragging this entire Assembly through the gutter and opening the closets of what where some of the most admired men in our organization?

Question #3:
How will they be held accountable?

Question #4:
Will they be labeled as division makers as the bible dictates?

Question #5:
Should the Assembly seek punitive damages and reimbursement of legal fees?

Question #6:
Will we the people allow them to continue ministering in our churches?

Question #7:
What will happen if they decide to settle out of court (as we think those negotiations are going on now)?

Question #8:
Where they only doing this for political positioning?

Question #9:
If they do settle out of court how does the Assembly heal the strife and chaos caused by all this?

Question #10:
"If" the pro-lawsuit group walks away or the legal verdict is not in their favor, we should demand accountability on their behalf?

Questions #11:
Will they try to brush this entire debacle under the rug?

Questions #12:
Why does the man in this picture have a Ritz cracker pinned to the lapel of his jacket?

Here are MY answers to the Blog master's questions- not fact, not fiction, just MY opinion.

#1 the pro-lawsuit proceed with their lawsuit and "if" it is thrown out- things will remain status quo.

#2 actually, the pro-lawsuit group didn't drag the entire Assembly throught the gutter- neither did the GB---we did.-- by posting and airing our dirty laundry for all the world to read. By feeling that we had the right to drag others' names who have nothing to do with this. Those letters were sent to specific people- Apostolic Assembly Letters and Apostolic Voice - "opened up the closets of what were some of the most admired men in our organizations." And the rest of us walked right in and rummaged through each and every closet. I think we've all lost a small bit of innocence.

#3 Will WHO be held accountable? To God or to US?

#4 I think both sides will be division makers. Some for being the cause, and some for actually dividing. No matter who wins, both sides lose quite a bit.

#5 Yes the Assembly, should it win, should seek punitive damages and reimbursement of legal fees FROM THE OTHER SIDE. (As long as it's not collected via the people for yet ANOTHER special national project.)

#6 I believe more than likely most will continue to minister in our churches- like they have for years. And as for us, we'll continue to go, worship and give, and come out talking and gossiping our heads off after each service.

#7 If they settle out of court, Apostolic Assembly Letters needs to issue new keys to the closets so that we can rummage through them.

#8 I do questions some of the supporters jumping on the band wagon doing it for their own political gain.

#9 I for one see the need for the GB to make some very public statements and address some issues. The assembly needs some major damage control. Again, you can't hid the elephant under the rug. I believe there needs to be a reform of some kind, they CANNOT go about business as usual. Many things need to change. Will anything change? Who knows. But this has awoken the sleeping giant.

#10 Both sides will be held accountable to God, both sides SHOULD be held accountable to us. In what manner, is unknown. Can we really come up with something realistic?

#11 Isn't that what they're doing already? However, everything at its time and place. I would HATE to see the convention used as a platform for anyone behind A Mike, oops, a mike, for their own political gain and stone throwing. Let the games begin!

#12 The cracker is for later in case he gets hungry.

Significance of the Black and White Cookie:

The black and white cookie. I love the black and white. Two races of flavor living side by side in harmony. It's a wonderful thing.

The key to eating a black and white cookie, is you want to get some black and some white in each bite. Nothing mixes better than vanilla and chocolate. And yet, still, somehow racial harmony(in our case religious harmony) eludes us. If people would only look to the cookie. All our problems would be solved

What happen to the Road-Map
TRUTH #1:
WE MUST BUILD WISELY –- ON THE FOUNDATION

“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3:10,11

•• Without compromising absolute truth
•• Without fearing appropriate changes
•• Without backing down from challenges

TRUTH #2:
WE MUST BUILD WITHOUT WASTING - NOT IN VAIN

• Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.
Psalms 127:1

•• By His Spirit and grace
•• By His instructions
•• By His Strength

TRUTH #3:
WE MUST BUILD WELL - TO PLEASE HIM

• For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10

•• He is the one we aim to please
•• He is the preferred "customer"
•• He is the one that matters

TRUTH #4:
WE MUST BUILD WIDELY - THE WORLD IS OUR FIELD

• But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:8

•• Looking beyond ourselves
•• Looking beyond our own churches
•• Looking beyond our own culture

TRUTH #5:
WE MUST BUILD WALL-TO-WALL GOD WANTS HIS HOUSE TO BE FULL

• And the lord said unto the servant, Go out in to the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
Luke 14:23

•• Everyone is a sinner
•• Everyone must repent
•• Everyone can call on Him

TRUTH #6:
WE MUST BUILD WATCHFULLY - WITH WEAPON IN HAND
" They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burden, with those that lade , [every one] with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other [hand] held a weapon.
Nehemiah 14:7

•• Able to work together
•• Able to identify the enemy
•• Able to build and fight

TRUTH #7:
WE MUST BUILD WEEPINGLY - WITH HEARTFELT PASSION

• He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall
doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalms 126:6

•• More than duty, delight
•• More than position, passion
•• More than method, mission

ALERT!!!!
Information leaked from key GB leaders inner circle that if the lawsuit goes forward that some key GB members will not wait for the verdict, but will leave just if the lawsuit is filed. The potential damage of losing the lawsuit that will forever scar the respect and dignity of some of the current GB members is too much of a risk. Not only the damage of a potential loss, but the potential damage of association with a GB administration in question seems to be fracturing the current GB cohesivness.

Anonymous said...

To add to the above alert:

When I stated "leave", I mean leave the organization.

Yes, key GB leaders have stated that in the event the lawsuit goes forward, they will resign their positions and leave the AA.

Man I better hurry up and enroll at La Puente so I can be on the GB

The Road Map is empty teaching. Our esteemed GB has gone off roading.
They have:
Compromised the truth
Bypassed the Holy Spirit & Grace
Chosen to please themselves
Looked only to themselves
Are unrepentant with fraud
Have not identified the enemy which has take control
Have no more than position

Let's change it from Road Map to Road Block. They are leading us nowhere.

'A GB member with no one following him - is just a man going for a walk'

Hey blogmaster, If you are being 'un-biased', why not ask the same of the other point of view?

What should be done with the currrent GB - should they be removed from power?

Anonymous said...

I agree with "Hey blogmaster" it doesn't seem like a fair question "What if?" to those that are standing up for justice. Why not ask "What if either party would loose the case what accountability will they have to give to the church?"

Apostolic Voice said...

It is safe to say that if there is proof that the election was rigged to the extent claimed and proven in a court of law, that those involved will have their reputation severly damaged, positions removed and churches tarnished and their legacy will forever be marked.

This site is not fair. Its totally biased against MOG. Fender Bender Maffey? That is totally uncalled for. Another example of you "brothers" casting judgement on annointed men of god. Do you think its easy being a pastor? All of you "brothers" casting your judgements should walk in our shoes one day and experience what its like. You sit comfortable in your offices only to come to church on sunday and be critical of everything the pastor does. You judge his actions, his family, his decisions. If the pastor gets a new car, then you judge him as skimming off the top. If he gets a new house, you accused him of being a crook. Just because the lord chooses to bless his annointed ones more than the bench warmer, does not give you any spiritual authority to be critical. The lord will hold you in judgement for your slanders against the men of god. Already a curse has come on the church to all those who speak against the prophets. Cars are being repossed, brothers are losing their jobs, losing their homes. A scorn of shame awaits all those who curse the chosen men of god.

ANYONE can have a bling car and a huge home in ANY hills- take care of your credit and be good stewards with your money. If a Pastor has good things- he's probably taken care of his credit and paid his bills on time. If anyone else doesn't- that's on them. Enough of Pastor bashing. All of us need to look in the mirror- NO ONE is perfect.

In response to the "pastor's" comments...

based on your logic, that means Snoop Dog is an anointed man as well. Have you seen his cars, homes, and money?

Maybe he ought to start a church, since he has proof of being "anointed" or a "chosen" one.

"Already a curse has come on the church to all those who speak against the prophets. Cars are being repossed, brothers are losing their jobs, losing their homes. A scorn of shame awaits all those who curse the chosen men of god."

You are mistaken! These things are not happening because these people spoke out; they're happening because the housing market crashed and thier adjustable rate loan reset and now they can't afford the mortgage.

"Loosing jobs" is because 60% of construction labor is supplied by hispanics, 99.99% of the AA is Hispanic.

"Loosing cars" is because they took out the equity to buy the Navigator and now they can't afforf the new adjustable rate mortgage!

LOL, try again

Some of the greatest challenges of a Pastor are:
(1) Being Misunderstood. For the most part, the life and ministry of a pastor is not understood by the average layman . The average layman has little concept what a pastor is, what he really does, the hassles he deals with and so forth.
(2) Coping with Criticism. Like most other public figures, a pastor and his family live in the public eye, like a "fish bowl" where people watch them constantly, frequently viewing them with criticism and cynicism.

(3) Faced with an Overwhelming Task. It's been said that 80% of the work of the church is done by 20% of the people. "He beats out his brains in the pulpit week after week to make a difference in people's lives. But sometimes he feels like he's been condemned to a lifetime of futility, trying in vain to motivate a sullen pack of foot dragging spiritual adolescents who never quite seem to see the big picture, never get excited enough to shoulder responsibilities, and never come anywhere close to a full 10% tithe."
(4) Resisting Manipulation . For many, this will sound unbelievable. But the pastor is a frequent target of manipulation and control.
(5) Coping with Emotional Conflict. During the ministry of a pastor he will face challenges and strange conflicts in his emotions that he was never prepared for. This unique man most likely entered the ministry out of his divine calling, and his love for people. But he was probably surprised to learn that shepherding people was a life filled with wounds, hurts, and disappointment.
(6) Coping with Disappointment. Furthermore, during his ministry, he will experience many disappointments and heartaches with people.
(7) Dealing with Satanic Attack. The pastor and his family are targets of Satan’s greatest attacks. The enemy’s strategy is highly intelligent.
If he can overturn the shepherd with temptations or trials, he can likely scatter the sheep.
(8) Perseverance. There will be numerous temptations for the pastor to simply quit. He must be a person of tremendous faith and prayer to overcome the many challenges — to set his face as a stone, with unflinching determination and steadfastness.

How necessary it is that we pray for him, encourage him, show him love and not add to his list of wounds.

We would pray for our pastor, problem is, we don't have one. We see a car in the pastor's reserved parking space, and a man taking the pulpit on Sundays, but we have yet to see a pastor.

Dear Pastors Looking for Sympathy,

CRY ME A RIVER!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

I agree that the job of a Pastor is indeed a tough one, but most AA churches are pastoring 20-30 people. And more than half of those are their family. Give me a break!

Anonymous said...

It's too bad that some of these Pastors, who really have no business being pastors, have given a bad name to the good ones that there are.

In most jobs, when you are not producing, you get let go. Why aren't some of these pastors being monitored? Why do some churches only have 30-50 people? Makes me wonder how and what these pastors are teaching in order for their churches to be so stuck in such a slump. One can't pastor a church from manuals received at pastor conferences. Pastors have to have THE calling, they have to have the love for the people and the work of the Lord (actually get their hands in the nitty gritty and not just sit back and delegate) they have to be prayer warriors, spiritual guides, counselors- there's more to being a pastor than just having the title.

How I wish some of these incapable pastors would realize their limits. There's nothing wrong with saying, "I just couldn't do it" and step aside. In fact, that's admirable. But when they insist on staying on and drain their church of all funds and basically teach nothing-- then are perplexed as to why there is no growth of any kind . . .

We're no one to judge who has a calling and who doesn't, but when you are able to see the fruits of their work in their churches . . . well you can't help but know who does and who doesn't.

It's so sad that there are pastors who see what is supposed to be a calling-- a "job". Being a pastor is not a job, it's a lifestyle that should reflect God in every aspect.

Although I agree, that there are some pastors who really shouldn't be in that position, let us not forget that our assembly still has many pastors who are true men of God. Who were called of God and not of a Bishop. Men who felt that stirring in them that wouldn't let them be, not just being plucked out of a congregation. Men who still go to God for EVERY answer.

Let's pray to God to send us the men that He wants to lead us, not necessarily the men that WE want.

God have mercy on all of us. . .

One of the most common errors found in Christianity today is that particular persons, usually pastors or evangelists, are somehow more "anointed" than the average Christian. This teaching often coincides with a veiled threat in the form of "touch not mine [the Lord's] anointed," (I Ch. 16:22, Ps. 105:15).

The term "anointing" means to "authorize, or set apart, a person for a particular work or service," (Is.61:1). The New Testament is absolutely clear on whom the anointing rests - ALL of Christ's disciples, who are God's very own, set apart and commissioned for service (2 Cor. 1:21). The New Testament does not support the notion of a "greater" anointing based on "position" and such teaching has its origin in a fundamental misunderstanding of the relationship between the Old and New Testaments.

Proponents of this error fail to use careful exegesis to discern the difference between the Old Testament call of a "prophet," where the anointing rested on one man (Is. 61:1, I Sam. 26:9,11, 2 Sam. 22:51, 2 Chr. 6:42), and the New Testament call of a "priesthood of believers" (I Pet. 2:5,9). Certainly there are diversities of gifts, but the Spirit [or anointing] remains the same (I Cor. 12). Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, and many others have long terrorized God's people with "touch not mine anointed" nonsense if anyone dared question them or their teaching. Anyone who has a gift (all have gifts, 1 Cor. 12:7-11), has a ministry, and anyone who has a ministry, has authority and is anointed.

It is a sad situation in many churches today that "laity" are content to sit on a pew week after week and assume the opinions of professional clergymen are to be the final authority. They find comfort in this approach because it is safe. Preachers are content to keep it this way because it secures their position in the church.

How many times have believers been subjected to mishandled scripture with an implicit or explicit "touch not God's anointed" if any dared to question? This is in contrast to the Biblical admonition to "try the spirits", (1 John 4:1). Fear is not of God and teaching which incorporates psychological intimidation is corrupt and deceptive. One of the easiest ways to determine what "spirit" motivates a person "in authority" is to question them. A godly man or woman will never be offended or become indignant if someone dares to question them and compare what is said with the Word of God. However, if one is motivated by an "authoritarian" spirit of conceit or arrogance, the questioner will soon know it. Peter warned the elders (pastors and spiritual guides of the church) not to be domineering [arrogant, dictatorial, overbearing] over the flock of God, but to be patterns and models of Christian living (I Pet. 5:3, AMPL.)

Many prominent pastors and evangelists today make the claim that because "souls" are being saved and "healings" take place in their meetings, that this somehow validates their ministry. While these things may be well and good, they are no indication of "divine" sanction. A.A. Allen was a drunkard, Jimmy Swaggart a whoremonger, Jim Bakker a thief, Larry Lea a prevaricator, and Robert Tilton a charlatan - yet ALL of these saw thousands saved and miracles take place in their meetings. Because one is blessed with "prosperity" and has a "following" of thousands, doesn't mean a darn thing when it comes to integrity and godly sanction, for "he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust," (Matt. 5:45).

Twenty-six years ago I experienced the greatest miracle of my life - salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This experience came in a Apostolic "holiness" church where, unbeknown to me at the time, the pastor was committing adultery, one of the deacons (or "pillars" of the church as they were called) visited a prostitute on a regular basis, another deacon kept a large supply of porno magazines in his home, and still another was a philanderer. This taught me that just because God moves in a particular setting, it is no indication that those who bear the message are "godly."

A parable for the Church

There was a time when elephants lived outside our home. We watched him wreck havoc to others in the communities, but he never came to us, we were safe. He knew his place and was not welcomed in our home. Then there was the time he showed up at our doorstep, and we said nicely, please go away we don’t want you here we don't believe in what you do. So he listened and respected our wish, but went away hurt. But an elephant never forgets and he started to come back in our neighborhood. Our neighbors made friends with him by seeing he was hungry and fed him peanuts, and so he made it a habit of showing up regularly. They then got use to seeing him, and allowed him to roam free in our immediate neighborhood. But he never came into our house!

We had some friends and acquaintances that made friends with this elephant, and one day when they visited us, he came along with them into our house. They showed us that this elephant was funny and not as damaging as people first thought, and we can easily be friends with him, just as they are.

But the elephant was not satisfied to having the house to himself, he became only the first to move in. Not only has this elephant moved in, he brought the rest of his friends, the animals in the zoo. Mostly the hyenas, but there were monkeys too. People started to laugh that this elephant was in the house, and started to enjoy his company, he seemed to become part of us. The dogs barked, growled and howled. The parrots flew around mimicking other sounds of the animals, clucking and cawing, and they all became part of the household. The house became so lively that some started to wonder how they got along so long without them. They became the main attraction whenever someone would visit us.

But some of them complained wanting the elephant out. This was their house too, and they said that they only want their kind of creatures living in the house. They said, ever since they could remember we never had these creatures inside our home. So they were accused by the others of not being open nor having the tolerance to love all Gods creatures, and give them the respect they deserve. The others insisted that the animals stay, even though they were taking up a lot of room and most of the attention was on them.

Soon many of the animals gave birth to a whole new generation and....

There’s only one way to move an elephant in a house. When no one is home, or no one really cares or everyone is sleeping.

The "touch not mine anointed," was very very good.

One day I asked my pastor a question about an apostolic standard that I could not find in the Bible. My pastor told me that even though it's not in the Bible, that I would go to hell if I disobeyed him.

Since when did his own NON-Biblical statutes become equal to God's word? What a dangerous concept.

judgment belongs to the church.

Christian leaders are accountable to God's people, whom the leaders serve, and should be "above reproach," "respectable," and "able to teach" (1 Tim. 3:2). A Christian leader who is a false teacher or immoral should be rebuked to encourage reform (Titus 1:13), and cannot separate his ministry from his life, expecting God to bless his preaching while privately he sins; he is "disqualified for every good work" (vv. 15-16).

Telling the truth about false teaching or immorality in the church corresponds with the ethics and truth which are to characterize the church. The church is the "salt of the earth" and "the light of the world" (Matt. 5:13-14) only if characterized by truthfulness (v. 11) and righteousness (v. 16). The Christian leader has an obligation to "hold firmly the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it" (Titus 1:9). No Christian is happy when false teaching or immorality arises, but we cannot neglect responsibility for doctrinal and moral accountability.

Christians sometimes are uncomfortable with criticism within the church because they assume that public criticism, since it is painful, is also destructive. On the contrary, the "pain" of biblically conducted confrontation produces individual growth (1 Tim. 4:16), encourages others to Christian maturity (1 Tim. 5:19-20), promotes church strength (Eph. 4:15), and preserves the church's reputation in the world (1 Pet. 2:12).

Another Historical Perspective
Do you notice that there are alot of comments...comments and alot of things that are just "opinions"
"No responses and NO SOLUTIONS"
Thanks to the persons who replied on the rebuking and cursing..this is typical of "trying to intimidate and "freeze" the person that speaks out in truth about the past that continues to corrupt the present and future>
Why do you not start rebuking and praying over the demonic forces that have destroyed so many of the innocent young men that are being victimized by the Union City Lopezes who started all this assults on young men approximately 20 years ago. Their father the Lopez from Union City that continues with the "Road Map" and the daaaaad personality.dud personality continues to have "so called "preaching marathons..Put him to "try to preach" and all the same old, same old of the women's attacks on the three P's will surface on his speech, because it is not a "sermon" his speech has no text, no context, it is totally out of context...The three P's are
"Pelo, Pantalon and Pintura."

The Bible clearly stated. That if a man desires to be in the Clergy, ministry, he should have his family in subjection to the word of God. Paul stated this to Timothy as doctrinal teachings.
Oh sure the Lopezes, from Union City are married. so what? Gone back to the closet, but they have left the "worm, after the giant fly has died..But we continue to be blind and speechless.
Total denial.. God is the judge and he will see right through all their followers on this recently held "preaching marathon" It is totally unGodly.
But after all their inherited from the second Pres.Bishop...God have mercy.
And we wonder why the "lawsuit"
The ones from Union City always fly "under the radar" But like people say "still waters run deep." Run for your life and pray for God's mercy.

Dear Blogmaster, keep up the good work. I hope a good book develops out of this, but remember "our people do not like to read"
History tells us about the Apostolic Assembly, like the man that wrote letters@aposotlicassembly. info on "Why no revival?" He was famous at BLASTING PEOPLE THAT WENT TO UNIVERSITIES. Just because he left school, he would state "Board members" who had made it "bit in the APA that "never" went to school.
But of course we know that Moses was highly educated in the Egypitian Culture, King Salomon and also Paul "under the feet of Gabamliel."

We have one man in the Apostolic Assembly that has a Doctor's of Divinity degree from a fully accrediated Graduate School. He is brother Alfred Jose, but of course who cares...

The more accrediated the Graduate School the less that person is used. There is so much jealously, hatred and insecurity to permit to learn from the person that paid the high price. All these Logos titles are okay, but no accrediated. Again fraud.

The "attacks" Iam talking about are the "verbal attacks" that we have with stood for so many decades from "verbal attacks" from
"the power of the podium"
In one convention in San Diego at the Town and Country Hotel, because of his father's in law influence, Adam Lopez, who flies "under the radar" was "given the priviledged to speak for the evening service on a Saturday night. Imagine...with great preachers there that could do exegesis and excert the word on textual and historical Biblical perpectives. Well the word "preach" means to "speak" the word of God.
This man Adam Lopez bashed women, on plucking their eye brows. He would say "pluka, pluka, pluka>"
How humiliating. We had taken vistors and of course they went out and we never could get them to come back to church. But oh well, we are "hard' core' Aposotlics and faithful till Jesus comes. So we will never leave, because we have been told if we do we will"straight to hell', without any hope or salvation.
The Bible teaches, We are saved by "Grace" and not by "works"
Brother Jauhall also bashed the sisters from Day one. And I know that his weakness were "pretty women". Never was fullfilled so he bashed and bashed. God forgive him. At least Sam Valverde uses T. D. Jakes sermones and verbalizes them. Great improvement. But now this..We are used to the "Patronismo and the Machismo, and Nationalism..(Mexican descentiants.

Yes we remember the school at Union City for all ages. It was a disgrace. The teachers...Read on to see the Lopezes..They were so spoiled. Don't defend them if you are 'one of them' they are back in the closet because its convient. Have and lets have..get the picture before you defend them..

Lets pray for those youngsters at the Messengers of Peace.

Bravo to you Bishop Valverde for speaking out in defensive for the youngsters. But don't only talk. Call Children Protective Services and have those "gangsters" arrested.

What Lopez is like close to 80 now and his hair is jet black on top...come on...must be the sherman williams doing the job.

STOP BASHING OUR SISTERS!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Now you are hating on the Lopez's? You sound like a bitter old man who didn't get any action because you had no game whatsoever. Are you hating on the Lopez's boys because they got all the good looking and the talented sisters?

I agree they should call Child Protection Services. to go to next convention to watch out for 30 year olds wondering after the little girls.

The Lopez'es are not "has beens". They are gifted men of god. Don't bash them becuase they had game whan they were young.

Great, a spanglish monkey who epitomizes manhood around "having game".

I suggest you stop hitting the snooze button and wake up to the realization that being a man is not about "having game". Sounds like you've had too much Nintendo son, instead of increasing your "game", go get a life.

At least they had game? What kind of mentality do you have? That is just about the stupidist thing I have ever heard. Try telling that to their victims- at least they had game- my GOSH! I really don't know what kind of people we have become. You've obviously become jaded by sin.

What happened with the Lopez scandal? I have a friend who seems pretty affected by this. I grew up with him, he's never been the same and he refuses to tell me anything although he can't stand to look at them or even mention their name.

Wonder who will be the speakers.

Wonder if Lopez will invite his GB golf buddies again.

As I mentioned in my previous blogs and in the one dated "Oct. 15, 1:26 pm, Election Irregularities blog" all pastors have received a letter from the law suit petitioners and consenters, explaining the reason and purpose for the upcoming law suit. You can see it posted in "www.apostolicassembly.info" Now for all of you who called the men of God who were going to file the law suit "cowards" KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS OPEN, it's finally coming!

Question #4:::
Will they be labeled as division makers as the bible dictates?
-----------------------
Going by scripture -- What really does constitute 'division'?

It seems that whenever someone leaves the Apostolic Assembly to venture outside this box -- usually because they feel the Lord calling them to do so.. the scarey word "division" is used.
What is the purpose?

What --using scripture -- constitutes the 'division' which the Lord abhors?

What About Leadership?

It has taken me these few months to finally be able to breathe without constriction of any kind. I am reaching the point where I can say let’s move on. I have found that writing my thoughts is therapeutic and is part of my healing process.
I was on the Apostolic Assembly website recently and was intrigued when I read the Presidential Thoughts segment by Bishop Sanchez. He writes, “As we saw the closure of our General Convention in Long Beach, California last November, we also saw the end of a chapter – one more among many in our rich apostolic heritage. The new landscape has given rise to the renewal of our vision.” Bishop Sanchez is correct in noting that we did see the closing of another chapter in our “rich apostolic heritage.” Heritage is a strong and viable word. It makes me think of what was handed down to me. It is about my legacy. It also makes me think of that which is sacred, pure and blessed. I take my Apostolic heritage seriously and don’t want to be frivolous about what was passed down to me.
Bishop Sanchez writes about Eleazar and how the garments of his father were placed on him as a symbol of “continuity and empowerment.” Continuity indicates stability and solidity, and empowerment indicates to give authority to somebody. Bishop Sanchez notes “The Apostolic Assembly has received its mandate for continuity and empowerment for the next four years as the new board of directors took the oath of office to function from 2006 through 2010. This duly elected new board was empowered to fulfill God’s mandate as Eleazar had also received his father’s garments on the top of the mount.”
The scripture states that God told Moses to take Aaron and his son Eleazar to Mount Hor and to take Aaron’s garments and place them on his son. Moses did what he was told. He had God’s directive, command or “mandate” to do just that.
Bishop Sanchez writes, “As in Eleazar’s case, he was new on the job, but the garments were the same. The names of the officials may be new, but the work is still the same – to fulfill the will of God until He comes.” The usage of the word “will” indicates this was the preference or the choice of God.
The last sentence of the President’s thoughts states, “As we have begun to tread the beginnings of this new cycle, we covet your prayers that the Lord will give us wisdom and faithfulness to fulfill that which He has entrusted upon us.” I focus on the word entrusted, which indicates that God trusted or assigned these positions. I would like to believe this was also the case in the last election.
Article 74 of our honorable constitution notes that
“All members of the Apostolic Assembly accepted into any of the local churches affiliated with this religious corporation shall comply with the doctrine established by our Lord Jesus Christ, in accordance with the Holy Scripture, and obey this Constitution.”
“All people who believe and accept the doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ and are members of the Apostolic Assembly, have the right to the privileges and prerogatives of the Church. These privileges and prerogatives cannot be withheld unless a member becomes unworthy and acts contrary to our principles of doctrine, discipline, organizational and economic.”
As a member I’m expected to “obey the Constitution.” And, I would assume that as a leader this expectation should apply above and beyond that expected of a simple member. “The value and strength of our constitution requires that each of us complies with it and enforces its compliance.” This was impressively noted by the Revision Commission of our Constitution of January 2004.
Again, I question was this complied with in the past November election? Did the entire ministerial or pastoral body of our organization really decide the last election? Why am I writing? Why do I care? It’s quite simple, I have that right as a member of the organization to question and ask for an explanation. And, more importantly I need to heal and regain some confidence in the leadership of this organization.
Noah Webster wrote, “Choose just men who will rule in the fear of God. The preservation of our government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty…”
Leadership is a privilege and I have learned that more is required of those in leadership. Personal agendas have corrupted and ruined many leaders for their lack of focus and ethics. Corporate leadership in America has demonstrated this; Enron, Worldcom, Kmart, Adelphia, Tyco were corporate scandals that shook the confidence of their investors and affected the financial markets. These corporations had corporate executives going before congressional panels to testify about their roles in questionable business practices and some of these executives were taken away in handcuffs. More recently we had the trial of Joe Nacchio who presumably took advantage of his investors and employees and he now faces imprisonment after being found guilty.
What’s my point? Be ethical. This is of utmost importance for all of us as leaders. It is something that we have to work and discipline ourselves to do on a daily basis. It really is a challenging thing to do everyday. Magazines and newspapers write about this issue often and not too long ago, USA Today stated that two in three adults believe ethics "vary by situation" or that there is no "unchanging ethical standard of right and wrong." In a survey they conducted only 18% of the people ages 20 - 30 said that there was one standard of right and wrong.
The Vancouver Province printed another study, which reflected that we tell 200 lies a day. Everything from giving excuses for our behavior, to saying things like, "I hate to bother you . . .” I thought this was interesting because I find I do that as well. How can we expect our staff or our constituents/members or the next generation to do what is right if they see us doing what is wrong? It is incredibly important that we have a strong code of ethics to base our decisions and lifestyle on.
As leaders we must ask ourselves, what set of values dictate our ethics–our behavior? Or do we have a code of ethics? Do we have convictions that cause us to say, "I will never do that" or "For me that is not an option?" If we don't, then we need to sit down, think through and write down our non-negotiable code of ethics. I recently read that “sometimes it can be the little things that erode our standards and–by the way–our self esteem. When temptation comes, we may very well do something that we will later be sorry for. Sometimes we have harmful situations to live with the rest of our life.”

Margaret Thatcher once said, "I am not a consensus politician, I am a conviction politician." What kind of leaders are we? Do we have convictions of our own or do we live by the consensus of other opinions?
It is paramount to have high ethical standards to be an effective leader. I have seen this in my 34 years of working within my organization. However, it wasn’t until I reached Senior Level Leadership within the agency that I observed unethical conduct and its impact on our employees and the American public we serve. This misconduct not only impacted the leader but his family and friends as well. It impacted the communities we served to some lesser degree but nonetheless it impacted unfavorably.
Leadership is influential. As leaders, how influential are we? In his book. “Leadership 101” John Maxwell writes about the levels of leadership. He states that Level 1 of leadership is position. People follow because they have to. He states that the only influence a leader has at this level is that which comes with the title.
Level 2 of leadership is permission. People follow because they want to. He states that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. And, he goes on to state that Leadership begins with the heart, not the head. It flourishes with a meaningful relationship, not more regulations.
Level 3 of leadership is production. People follow because of what you have done for the organization. This is where morale is high, turnover is low, needs are being met and goals are being realized.
Level 4 of leadership according to Maxwell is people development. People follow because of what you have done for them. He states that a leader is great, not because of his or her power, but because of his or her ability to empower others. Success without a successor is failure.
And finally, he notes that level 5 of leadership is personhood. People follow because of who you are and what you represent. Maxwell believes that most of us haven’t arrived at this level. But, it is achievable. He believes that only a lifetime of proven leadership will allow us to sit at level 5. This level of leadership is when a leader’s greatest joy is watching others grow and develop. At this level a leader transcends the organization.
So, what’s a leader? I ask myself that question time and again, especially as I struggle as a mother trying to lead and guide her children “in the way that they should go.” How influential am I to them? I ask myself that question time and again as a wife. Have I overstepped my boundaries in our home? Have I supported my husband’s leadership role within our home? How influential have I been in that role of leadership? How influential am I as a leader/director at work? How influential am I with the employees I am responsible for? What type of influence am I as their leader, their mentor and their guide? How about my role as pastor’s wife, bishop’s wife, teacher, counselor, women’s leader in the church?
The list could go on and on. But, I like to think of myself as the gospel writer Luke wrote, a leader is “one who serves.” Jesus set that example. “The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between the two, the leader must become a servant and a debtor. That sums up the progress of an artful leader.” So, writes Max Dupree in his book, “Leadership is an Art.”
I believe that part of the in between as noted by Mr. Dupree is a leader learning to say, “okay, I blew it, I made a mistake, I misjudged, please forgive me and help me fix it.” Our church organizational leadership is being challenged for what some of us believe was poor judgment, violation of authority and poor leadership due to personal agendas and pre-selections. As a wife, mother, woman, female member of the Apostolic Assembly, bishop’s wife, leader in my profession, I am praying for our leadership and that through this current situation we all become better leaders and focus on the true purpose of our life.

What do you know???

The convention in Lubbuck Texas is over and Abel Torres fell right back into the web of musical chairs. He was again elected unanimously by all the Pastors, because the Pastors cannot think for themselves.

Sanchez did not dare apply the disqualifying tatics of the Qualifying Commission because Sanchez needed to neutralize Abel Torres.

As for Daniel Salomon and Baldemar Rodriguez, it must have been a heavy blow that Abel Torres is now part of the GB gang again.

How can a man be voted as Bishop by the Pastors who are part of the Apostolic Assembly when Torres is one of the ones suing the five members of the Qualifying Committee of the elections held in Long Beach CA in 2006?

Torres should have been disqualified for that reason.

That is called insubordination
to the Church and to the Bible
(I Cor. 6:1-11) which forbids the church to go to the world for resolution of internal church problems.

So is this the kind of hero we need? If he had the integrity alluded to earlier by another blogger, he would have disqualified himself for that reason alone.

But now Abel Torres is putty in Sanchez's hands. And we now have another person who is willing and able (no pun intended) to sue our Assembly if it is convenient and expedient for him...and you want Abel Torres as a board member-a man who sued his own Assembly?

Sorry to Baldemar and Salomon, their partner in the lawsuit has gone to the other side-the GB gang.

About the year 1990, Bishop Manuel Castorena came from Mexico City where he had just terminated being Obispo Presidente de la Iglesia Apostolica de Mexico.

Bishop Castorena was invited by Bro. Manuel Vizcarra who was Presiding Bishop of the Apostolic Assembly to Pastor the AA church in Pacoima, CA.

Bishop Castorena pastored in Pacoima, then relocated to another property that he purchased for the AA on Brand Blvd in San Fernando, CA.

Bishop Castorena is a dynamic preacher, teacher CBAN. For many years he taught at the Colejio Biblico Apostolico in Mexico City, preparing many men and women for ministry.

Now Bro. Castorena is very ill and will be retiring from the pastorship of the Apostolic Assembly church in San Fernando this coming Sunday, November 4 at a special farwell service.

It would be wonderful to take a pause especially now that we are having such a difficult time in our Assembly, to acknowledge and appreciate a great warrior of God who has given it all to the Work of the Lord, and retires only because his health has failed him to the point that he is a double amputee.

Let us rejoice that this man has left such a great legacy with our AA and a bright mark for many to follow.

If you would like to send him an acknowledgement card or offering here is his home address where he resides with his wife:

Rev. Mauel Castorena
11964 Carl Street
Lake View Terrace, CA 91342
(818) 890-1535

May God Bless you.

When are you people going to stop talking about this? Like you have nothing better to do. Hey, did you forget what we have been mandated to do for Christ? Why can't you focus on that? To win the lost. We all need to be focused on what was important to Christ. Ask yourself this question, why was the last time you won a soul over for the Lord? If you haven't won anyone over to the Lord, "shame on you".

Anonymous said...

Also, can you please leave Bishop Valverde alone. I'm talking about all you jealous narrow-minded people that got nothing better to do. All your comments about Bishop Valverde need to stop. You all are looking at things from the outside looking in. You all don't got it right.

Anonymous said...

When you see the real Sam Valverde you would not defend him the way you do.

He will NEVER be president. Read may lips NEVER.

The AA will never put a valverde back into the president. That is not to say that he put himself in.

Sorry Sammy tell your cousin 2 vote to sell you a car, so you can feel better.

Anonymous said...

Abraham Lincoln once said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power" For you sister who wants people to leave bishop valverde alone, your bishop failed this test. You see him operate in church as your pastor, and in that light he is a good man. However, many of us have seen him operate in the forum of politics, as a GB member, and if you would see him in action in this arena, you would see how power has corrupted his judgement and his heart! I have personally seen him destroy men and their ministries, just because they were NOBODIES!

To the person who left this silly comment about me not knowing Bishop Valverde. Again, you don't know what your talking about. I've known him for at least 25 years and I know him better than you do. It's you that doesn't know his heart and what kind of a man he really is. He is a man full of integrity and yes I am a member of his church and he is the best pastor around this assembly and I will come to his defense and if you don't like it, too bad! What's funny is that you don't want to admit he is the best pastor in this assembly. A question to you brother or sister whoever your are. Were you that nobody that he destroyed that you are so bittered up!! Maybe you deserved it. So do yourself a favor and get a life!

Anonymous said...

Whether we have 8 Bishops or 27 of them, it makes no difference.

As long as we have a President like Daniel Sanchez, a low-class cholo from Calexico, who makes all the decisions for all the Bishops, anyway, you can have 1000 Bishops and it won't mean a thing.

Every Bishop is afraid of Sanchez. They run to him for every decision. If they have to move a chair or table, they call Sanchez.

If Sanchez doesn't approve, they don't do anything because if they do, he will retaliate immediately. They know better.

They live and administrate in fear of him. They talk to him, and he confuses the issue and then claims he was misunderstood, or changes the story to suit him.

How does one work with these circumstances? No, changing numbers of Bishops won't fix anything until the Top Banana is chopped down to size and held to some sort of measure.

That is why the Assembly is in this condition. This also goes for Baldemar, Salomon and Valverde, they are ALL THE SAME.

They rule with fear, threats and shunning. If the Bishop, Elder, Pastor, member, even a child does not dance to the beat of the drum, he/she is blackballed and shunned. You all know what I am talking about.

They have no love of God. Nothing will change until you take all THAT POWER OFF THE TOP.

Andin the name of Jesus, they will be taken down.

Regarding the families that have a new local mission in Midland, well, as we all know they were actually going to be a Mission for the Iglesia Apostolica de Mexico, so in order for them not to go, it became the new local Midland mission (the pastor that was coming is a Pastor that has pastored many places in the Apostolic Mexico Church).<>

To GQ. I believe you. I've never been to a church where the pstor was backed by 100% of the congregation. I remember the debacle of Nick leaving. He left because he wanted the church. I remember how heartbroken Pastor Prieto was. They did fine with their own church for awhile. I visited while I was backslidden.
THen he disappeared. They had to call somebody from Mexico to take over.

And about the brother pastoring from Mexico. Lot's of our pastor's were from Mexico especially the old pastor's from TX. Pastor Eliseo TOrres (RIP) started his ministry in the church of Mexico. I mention him because he was from our (I still consider it mine haha) district there in TX.

and yes...who said what about Pastor Arreola? I wanna know. I love that man. I will fight you..lol
